Application for Board

FCC-Northern California Needs YOU

Application for Board of Directors

FCC-Northern California currently has ten Board members. Frankly, that is NOT ENOUGH.  We have a membership of more than 600 families. We need more Board members to keep thriving as an organization. The time commitment is modest—3-4 meetings a year, monitoring Board emails, pitching in as needed—but very important.

Please, please, please...If you have been thinking about joining our Board, this is a great time to act. Check out our website at www.fccncalif.org and talk to any of the existing Board members (listed below). Then fill out and send in the application.

We would particularly love to add anybody in the following categories to our Board:

  • Geographic Diversity. We have 5 Board members from the Berkeley-Albany area, 2 from San Francisco, 2 from Palo Alto/South Bay, 2 from Marin, and 1 from Sacramento. What is up with that? Where are you Sonoma and Napa County folks, Peninsula dwellers, San Joaquin Valley members, Yolo, Chico, and Contra Costa people? C’mon down!

  • Treasurer/CPA/CFO skills. Laura Jamieson, our current CFO and a single mom, will be transitioning out of this post in the spring of 2008. She will be available to provide support to her successor. If you have the basic financial skills to work with spreadsheets and prepare and monitor a modest $50K/year budget, we need you!

  • Event Planners: We would love to have more talent and fresh energy on the board for thinking up and running new events that would attract a wide variety of families (across regions), finding venues, and handling the details of costs, reservations, publicity and other important details.

  • Fundraiser: A person with skills in fundraising is needed. This could be someone with experience in writing grants and developing connections for sponsorships to underwrite events, as well as someone who could work with the event planners to raise funds for FCC and its programs.

  • Volunteer Coordinator: A special person is needed to help welcome, guide and facilitate the work of the regional volunteers. This person could help brainstorm, network and share resources and ideas for our regional volunteers who are the heart and soul of our FCC chapter!
